What is mentoring?
Mentoring for young people is a supportive relationship between a more experienced individual (the mentor) and a younger person (the mentee). The mentor provides guidance, encouragement, and advice to help the young person grow personally, academically, or professionally.
A mentor can help a young person:
- Build confidence by offering encouragement and positive reinforcement.
- Develop skills through advice, training, and shared experiences.
- Set goals and create a plan to achieve them.
- Navigate challenges by providing support in difficult situations.
- Expand networks by introducing them to opportunities and connections.
